On 3 January 2019, a report suggest that President Trump may use an executive order to ban Huawei and ZTE purchases. When I saw the news, I was so curious, why would he do that? This was the beginning of a trade war between America and China.
Firstly, I agree for banning Huawei because even if Huawei is cooperating to trade items and minerals to use for making hardware with other businesses. Much like how Apple has Chinese employees from Huawei in their company or working in the technology department. It’s not just Apple that’s cooperating with Huawei, there are other businesses who cooperate with Huawei too, for example: Google. I think they’re cooperating in servicing websites like google play but they’re still competing against each other. In May 2019 they had planned for a 5G rollout in other countries. Although some countries were afraid that they would use this chance to steal their important information, for example: Australia and Japan.
Every business have their own goals that they want to succeed including Huawei too. They said that their goal is to make their achievements higher than Samsung and Apple.This makes me realize that Huawei is finding a way to do that by cooperating between business. In my opinion, trading is like when you hide a knife behind your back then become friends with others that also hide a knife behind their backs. So this means that each person has to be careful not to lose their benefit to each other.
Google was thinking of banning Huawei because of Trump’s order to put Huawei in the blacklist so that means that all the businesses in America, even America’s allies in Europe need to stop cooperating with Huawei. But I don’t agree with this because if they cooperate together to make new technologies in the future, it cans make good relationships between each other and not cause a war. If they start to have problems, they would have to make an agreement for fixing problems in each country.
My opinion about this is neutral. If Trump bans Huawei, they will be able to make their own products better by themselves in the future without other companies which already banned them. It has a chance to cause a war between the US and China in future. But if Trump doesn’t ban Huawei then this will make America’s telecommunication companies like Apple’s profit will go down and Huawei’s profits will be higher instead. Is Trump’s decision right or wrong? The answer depends on your opinion.
