When you look at your phone, you will see so many applications. There are apps which you use daily, for example, Google, Facebook, and YouTube. However, some people do not get a chance to access to those useful worldwide apps. Chinese are not allowed to use them. In China, there is a law taking citizens’ freedom by censoring those applications. It is wrong to take other people’s freedom. I personally disagree with what China does to their people.
China created their own programs for their citizens to use. The main apps are Banjul – instead of Google – WhatsApp, and Youku Tudou. This means when you go to China, some worldwide apps will be blocked. On the other hand, there is a benefit for China not letting their people use those worldwide apps. Money in their country will not leak to other foreign companies. Some people agree with the censorship for the sake of Chinese companies’ profit. The government or private companies get money from their own citizens. Although they get money, it is not enough to run their businesses. They also need money from other countries too. In the end, the country does not get any benefit from forcing people to only use their applications. In fact, Chinese wants to be free, as you can see from the number of Chinese citizens leaving their country. They save money and move their household to somewhere else, such as USA, Canada, and Thailand.
Owning to banning, Children and adults do not get to access various information. It is difficult to study if the information is not worldwide. People will only be educated in the way of their country or only know whatever their country wants. One of the most difficult things to study is languages. You could see that some Chinese cannot speak English or other languages at all. It seems very miserable to have less chance to access to valuable knowledge. Lacking assorted knowledge causes less creativity in Chinese. They will not think outside the box because they only know what their country teaches, unlike other people who get a chance to see many creative ideas.
Another reason is lacking connection. Chinese cannot have online friends or even keep in touch with their foreign companions. They will be shy or afraid to have friends. Some Chinese do not make friends at all. They are only in a group in which Chinese. This will be a big problem for them when there is not another Chinese. Some foreigners think it is rude not to make friends or talk to anyone. Another case is when one of their family members is in another country and some things bad happen to that person. No one can contract their family in China or can contract but it could be too late for them to help.
Forcing people to only use their products is a bad thing.The government prevents leaking money. Without money from other country, it is not enough to run their companies. The main reason is lack information. People don’t get to have various of information to study. another reason is to lack of connection between Chinese and foreign friends and their families which live in another country. Those reasons dispel that banning is not good. China should desist banning applications such as Google, YouTube, and Facebook. Otherwise, the people who get taken away their right to be free and do not have their right to choose what is good for themselves so they run away from their country. These are the reasons why people do not respect the government anymore. China should be more open about social media.
