Censorship of twitter is the word that use to describe the company censoring accounts or content on their platform, which is Twitter. Twitter censorship also includes governmental notice and take down request to Twitter. Which Twitter use it in accordance with it Terms of Service. When the government or authority a valid removal request to same content on Twitter (such as tweet) that is violate a Terms of Service or laws, that content will be delete from Twitter.

First, i saw the news about “Government Blocking of Twitter”, it is talking about the government and some authority decided to block internet access to Twitter or its content. in 2019, the government of some country such as China, Iran and North Korea have blocked internet access to Twitter in their countries. Egypt, Turkey and United Kingdom have blocked internet access to Twitter to, but it was just a temporary block in 2011.

The censorship of twitter was base on government request. The government helps Twitter and others companies to censor contents on their internet platform and remove some illegal contents that have been posted there. If illegal content have been found on Twitter, the social network site will notify users from that, that they may not seen it. Government officials, the companies themselves or other outside parties will take care about censoring contents (in this case it is tweet) that may be illegal. In India, there was an account spoofing the Prime Minister of India named “PM0India”. And that account was block from Twitter in August 2012. In 2016, an American blogger called Richard Silverstain was comment about criminal investigation which is involved a minor and according to Israeli law. So that causing him to blocked from Israeli IP addresses, following request by Israel’s Ministry of Justice.

In the Twitter’s Terms of Service it said ” Twitter require its users to agree to, Twitter retains the right to temporality or permanently suspend users’ accounts based on violation of the agreement”. There is an example took place on December 18, 2017, when Twitter banned the accounts that belonging to Paul Golding, Jayda Fransen, Britain First and the Treditionalist Worker Party. 2 years after that, Twitter released the “quality filter” that can limit users’ visibility. Users can choose what they want to see something about that content or not. But then Twitter found that this feature had a software bug that needed to be fixed in future, they found it because Alex Thomson, a writer for VICE (a private company). He said that many prominent Republican politicians had been “shadow banned” by the filter.

Finally, Censorship of Twitter is good. It can detect the conyent that is violance, illegal or accordance its Terms of Service.
