What is shark fins soup? And how they’re dangerous?

Shark fin is a deluxe menu in China, Hong kong and many developed countries in Asia. Over 73 million sharks are killed per year for these “healthy dishes” and does it make you healthy? Or it’s a dish for rich people to serve their VIP guest.

How is the soup made? We call it shark finning, shark finning is an act of removing fin from sharks and leaving them back into the ocean. This might not sound like a big deal,  but the problem is that sharks must move all the time to keep oxygen flowing over their gills. So once their fins get removed they’ll sink into the bottom of the ocean and get eaten by other predators. This action directly destroys the whole ecosystem and food chain.  and are they really make u healthy?

How do shark fin soup have a health impact?

Shark fins soup has magnesium, Omega 3 and calcium. However, the cruel production and , it doesn’t justify killing a top predator for  soup

Additionally, Chinese culture believes that Shark fins will boost your sexual skill, enhance your skin, and improve your bone quality. Some people even say that they’re cancer protectors, however there’s no study about it. In other words, there is no medical evidence of these Chinese cultural beliefs.

However, Shark fins soup has nutrients as much as only a single egg that we eat in our daily life but because of their rarity and good taste it’s become a luxury dish. By the way, Shark fins didn’t give any taste at all, the ingredients that are used to make the soup.

When do people eat shark fin soup and which country eats the most?

Shark fin soup is usually served in big festivals like Chinese New Year, global New Year and the Dragon Festival. Or sometimes they serve this luxury dish to important guests or at an important event such as a wedding and prom.

Countries that serve shark fin soup include China and nearby countries such as Hong kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Thailand. Thailand is one of the big shark fin markets. A million shark fins are exported per year and most of the luxury restaurants in Thailand have shark fin soup on their menus. 61% of thais wanna try shark fin soup while 50% of them don’t even know how they’re made, this is so disappointing. But even still, Thailand isn’t the worst country but Hong Kong and China are. They’re countries that eat shark fins the most in the world.

Demand increases Supply?

Since the dish is valuable and can earn a huge amount of money, shark fins have become a many fishermen’s main target. Once they sell them to a big party, they’ll earn a lot of money.

How does shark finning affect the ocean’s ecosystem?

sharks are a keystone species they’re going after small or unhealthy fish and they’re also maintaining the coral and seaweed habitats. These actions can make the ocean’s food chain and habitat healthy but what if once they’re gone? What will happen to them?

And since they’re really wanted in fishermen and rich consumers, people are starting to hunt them more and more and sharks are starting to disappear. “But they throw them back to the ocean tho so these actions might show their responsibility and give higher tier predator free food either”. No, not at all, because once their fins are cut off they can’t grow a new one, so they’ll die as soon as they are thrown back to the ocean. Sharks are apex predators, which means they’re on top of the food chain. So if they’re hunted too much, the lower species will start to increase their populations uncontrollably.

Say no to shark fins

What can we do?

With our small voice we can’t do anything about this problem. The prestige of shark fin soup comes from one of the oldest Chinese cultural beliefs, so they won’t stop this practice easily.

But that doesn’t mean we got no hope, a lot of countries ran the education about shark fins affecting the natural to fishermen and give them advice such as suggest species to hunt other than sharks. Many countries are fighting together against the shark fin soup by banning them and giving punishment to people who are still hunting them secretly.

Extra tropic
What stage is the shark currently at right now?

Many shark species are at risk of extinction, with almost 100 million killed each year, no wonder why. And of course, shark fin soup causes the most shark hunting with over 73 million killed. What if we stop eating them immediately? There’ll be only 27 killed per year. I know that’s still a lot but if we really do that it’ll be a huge step for humanity to revive naturally.

Words, not hurt…

“You can’t do it.”

“Stop that idea, it’s worthless.”

“Can you think of any better?”

Many times, you are hurt by these kinds of words that really give you a negative feeling. The feeling of giving up on something, feeling defeated, and feeling like a loser. Making depression and being a reason of self-harm or suicide.

Speeches that are from ourselves and sometimes are in a bad way without realizing it. We speak a normal speech without sneaky ideas or any hidden intent but on the other side, the person who speaks with us might have a different idea to the speech.

People have different mindset and habits, some can let go, some can accept and some keep in mind every single word they hear. Some of them interpret the speech in the opposite way the speaker wanted it to be. So they depress themselves even if the speaker didn’t have that though in mind.

But the main point that causes problems in this world, is that they are people that use speeches in a bad way. Problems about using words are all over the world, but the main ones that are always heard are Bully and Gossiping.

Bullying, a reason of suiciding

Bully is a using of words or action that is violent, with intention or not to someone especially a weaker person. Anything that hurts and depresses them somehow, it’s a bully. Bullies usually come from bad society and how they are treated by families in a bad way.

They are treated in bad ways, that’s why they did bad things. Think of another way, if they are treated in a good way why would they bully others? Bad family is part of a big society and if the society is also bad, that really affects a person in a straight way without any words to explain.

Cyberbullying is a type of bully that is now affecting the online society. According to the number of students that experienced cyberbullied, over 60% of students who experience cyberbullying reported that it immensely impacted their ability to learn and feel safe while at school.

From the latest news, Hana Kimura: Suicide of Japanese wrestler blamed on online bullying

It told us that Hana Kimura, a Japanese professional female wrestler, has suicided herself because she can’t accept how she got cyberbully anymore.

Bully is not just a normal thing that you can accept in daily life. Bully can be sometimes you make jokes with friends, or even when you have a fight with others and use a physical characteristic of that person as a joke to taunt them. This keeps us in mind that a society where everyone cares about each other really solves the problem in a right way.

What about a bullied victim revenging??

Crime is a crime, and reasoning is a way to tell the truth from what you faced.

Bullied victims are people that already have a scar, and it’s a normal thing that they will protect themselves not to face a situation like what they faced before.

Students that are victims usually have ‘only 2 choices’ to find the result of there situation, suicide or murder the person who bullies.

This does not show that victims are radical, but it shows that a bully usually comes together with dieing. The way victims retaliate against the wrongdoers is a wrong way, and reasons are different in countries and an ailment they faced. Thai victims mostly cause it because of ‘Thai teachers’ who never listen to them.

Most of the Thai teachers that are old don’t take bullying as a serious situation, they even make jokes from the serious problem of Thai victims that is a ‘student’. Thai students are stressed from this reason, so they have no other ways than choosing to eliminate the person they are scared of.

To avenge what they received.

Teachers should always give speech that suggests the right way and helps the student as much as they can, even if the problems are big or small. This is the way to use a ‘word’ as it should be, whenever.

Behind the scene, in another meaning

Talking behind the back, saying things that may be true or not but to attack others, is a Gossiping without any doubt to argue with.

Gossip changes the idea of how you believe in a person, no matter how you treat that person before. Have you ever believed that only gossip could destroy a person’s life? Cause it really does.

Gossip causes more of an effect than you think, and because there’s no evidence about gossip so you can’t prove if that person gossiped you even if you heard it by yourselves. People believe things that can be proven, but gossip has no evidence to prove the speech.

People also kill themselves for this reason, by being treated as a liar of saying things with no evidence. Most people on social media trust speech that gives more feelings of sadness, and the ones who are not believed will be attacked by a radical SJW

This reason also causes them to die, by being judged by society. This also covers up part of gossip from the beginning because after people understand any of the parts wrong, they stereotype and talk behind them to be sure if their ideas are the same with friends and can live in society by not being gossip like the one they do.

These behind talking continues spreading in a wider society and continues until they have enough for their feelings. Examples you can see are from the news about celebrities, and some of the celebrities respond to it by using a feeling on that time, which leads you to the next and last topic…

Letting anger leads you the result

Most of the time you are angry, you usually berate others without thinking first. Because of anger, that’s why you use a ‘hatred speech’ without knowing it might engrave in another person’s mind. Making resentment and starting a new problem over and over again, which is a cycle.

The cycle can start and end anywhere, and every time it starts, someone usually dies.

Preventing a situation where someone dies, doesn’t cause any life. It needs only a little cooperation, but from everyone. Society must change the mind set that blaming others helps work better. Again, speaking is for suggesting and helping. Using a speech can cause the problem, but also helps resolving the problem.

There is a proverb about speech that gives you an idea of using words can cause you both good and bad ways, ‘Words are like knives with 2 edges’. You should also think of the other person’s feelings and not just yours, to put yourself in someone else’s shoes help you understand the main problem and express you the way of resolving it.

From what I saw is the reason for choosing this topic

” If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality. “

Desmond Tutu (Foreword)

As a student, I saw lots of problems from my article that are not resolved yet. So I’d like to represent that a speech is important to everyone and is used in daily life, so be careful of what you are saying but not to worry of what you’re doing right.

Society would be at peace, if everyone cared about speech.

Entertainment insulting

Insulting is not a good thing. It’s even worse with entertainment. Entertainment can come in many forms like Comics and TV shows. When there’s entertainment, they’ll always be critics. Some critics are good and know how to criticize properly and politely. Some are just meatheads who just don’t care how creators feel.

Nowadays with the internet blowing up and all, creators will definitely have an account for social media. So far, this is the most efficient way for creators to communicate with critics and their fans. Going into public to sign autographs and talk one on one is just too inefficient.

Basically the internet makes everything much easier, but there are a few problems. Cyberbullying is a real thing and it happens to creators when people dislike their work. Even a critic’s message can sound like they’re attacking the creators themselves. That’s the problem with the internet; no one sees each other’s faces so it’s hard to tell one’s true intention.

Do these situations actually happen?

They actually do but not very often. Not everyone crosses the line and do such idiotic things. What I mean by this is that some people may complain about it on their own blog or social media page, but they wouldn’t go as far as to mention the creator’s account repeatedly.

An example of this situation is the current controversy behind a

Manga (Japanese comic) called “Domestic Girlfriend”. The story itself recently ended on June 10th, and a lot of people rejected the ending because it was a love-triangle. A love triangle is essentially when two people like / love the same person and that person has a hard time deciding who to go out with.

Following from my claim and the domestic girlfriend situation, a complaint in a personal blog can be found in the Domestic Girlfriend subreddit. Reddit is basically instagram but split into communities, communities also mean subreddit. A lot of people post about how they’re still upset about how the story ended but they don’t mention the author’s name. See how this relates to my first paragraph on how they’re people who make complaints but on their own blog?

Continuing from the earlier statement on personal blog complaints, If we have a calm and logical community, they’ll always be an opposite. Sometimes there are people who express frustration over the ending abusively and aggressively.

Domestic Girlfriend creator Kei Sasuga tweeted that she has been receiving “an overwhelming amount of insults, criticisms, and prolonged harassment” from overseas Twitter users. Kei Sasuga herself is grateful for the supportive comments she receives, but she feels like when she blocks an account that attacked her, they come back to attack her again. She stated that the only thing she can do is to brace herself for the hate comments. Kei Sasuga also said that the people who attacked her didn’t even buy her stuff!

In my opinion, people who don’t even buy the creator’s stuff have no right to attack nor criticize anything that the creator does, especially social media. I, as a reader myself, use an illegal website that allows people from foreign countries to read the translated version. The original book / magazine is also written in Japanese, so it’s hard to get an official translated copy for those who’re foreign.

But I don’t criticize her work because I don’t like posting online about my own life. I only use youtube, line, instagram and reddit to check on other people’s problems. And if I were to complain, I’d keep it to myself or share it with those who share an interest with me in real  life, not online.

Rejecting the ending is normal for stories like Domestic Girlfriend (Love-triangle based stories) because they’ll always be teams for each character, but going as far as abusing the creator might be a bit harsh.

The Filthy Frank is another example of getting attacked. Filthy Frank is a youtuber who quit because of vocal problems and to pursue his singing dreams under the name “Joji”.  Two years after he changed careers, A K-pop stan (Those who like K-pop) tried to boycott him. She claims that he said the “N word” before changing careers. We’ll group the haters as K-pop stans because they are the majority.

Her statement is a form of attacking. The majority of Joji’s fans were from FilthyFrank so the minority were the ones who were disgusted when they found out that Joji and FilthyFrank are the same person.

People may ask if Joji apologized for being racist, but that isn’t actually the case. Many people were supportive towards Joji including black people because they understood that his content was for comedy purposes. Joji even explained in his FilthyFrank channel that the fiction character he made is an embodiment of what a person SHOULD not be.

At the end of the day, the K-pop stans failed to boycott Joji. People turned their backs on the stans, and even made jokes like “Did you know that Dwayne Johnson and the rock are the same person” or something similar to that. It’s because the majority of the stans didn’t know that Joji and FilthyFrank were the same person.

So why shouldn’t creators be attacked?

Creating entertainment is not an easy task. At this age, the most important thing is to get approval and money. These two are just factors to keep creators from doing stupid things that could possibly make them go bankrupt.

And if creators have to go through that just to get their work published, then giving harsh comments may be a bit too much. We never know how they may feel. Some may argue that they have fame on their side and such comments won’t have an effect on creators. But that rule doesn’t really apply, creators are humans too and as humans we have feelings.

Cyberbullying creators is the whole reason that creators want to avoid social media. If they can handle the harsh criticism, then that’s that. But not everyone is emotionally prepared for these kinds of things. Imagine yourself as a creator and having someone dislike your work to the point that they start bullying you through a social media site. You might start questioning why your work even got published in the first place.

What are the hater’s intentions behind attacking? What do they even gain from complaining, fame?

When something doesn’t go how you imagine it would be, you would be dissatisfied right? Same laws apply to hater’s, the whole reasoning to why people do such things is because of dissatisfaction and by complaining instead of accepting, they gain satisfaction quickly and are not frustrated.

Think of it this way, when you’re frustrated, you want to get it out of your mind as fast as possible. But this is just my theory on why people abuse, A hater’s true motive may possibly be to have fun as a sadist, but that’s not a topic for me to talk about since A mere human can’t see through one’s motives easily. Unless of course, if they’re easy to read.

Also note that an attacker / abuser is not the same thing as a hater. They’re not the same term, but I use the term hater’s because it is much easier to understand but I strongly believe that the attackers don’t hate the entertainment form itself, they’re just dissatisfied with how things don’t go their way so like I said earlier, this may be a way for them to express frustration.

So what now? Is this even a serious issue to begin with?

No, it is not that big of an issue and there is no way to fix things as they are. People will always be people and toning down criticism is not an easy choice to go with. If we were to hypothetically make a protest not to criticize creators harshly, It would NOT go well. Overall in my opinion, I think we should just leave it the way it is.

Sometimes these kinds of things are a big deal and people may end up killing themselves but what can we do? Creators may end up doing something dumb like suicide but they can do it anywhere and anytime they like. This is just an issue I wanted to personally point out because it happens a few times a year. I just don’t like it when people create drama and it either goes good or bad.

Misinformation And Disinformation

KQED Teach - Misinformation Course Collection
https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fteach.kqed.org%2Fmisinformation-course-collection&psig=AOvVaw2XeO0sXuFWSwCofdV31efK&ust=1593516914363000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCMj6qLX3puoCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAO

Misinformation isn’t really a new thing going on in this century but it’s still very important to acknowledge that. And during this coronavirus pandemic going on, people would find a lot of news and information on social media about Covid-19. Some news can be really sneaky to let you think that their news is reliable and trustworthy and most people don’t really take a closer look at the news whether it’s real or fake or do further researches on the information.

Differences between misinformation and disinformation

You might be asking “ What’s the difference between these two? “ and to answer that question, misinformation is false information that is spread, regardless of intent to mislead. But we all make mistakes and can misheard or misunderstand the information we’re trying to inform other people without intending to deceive them. But disinformation is “ false information deliberately and often covertly spread (as by the planting of rumors) in order to influence people public opinion or obscure the truth, “ Merriam-Webster said. Which both could easily lead to more false information spreading to more people on both social media and in real life.

Misleading to violence and harassment

Disinformation and misinformation can lead to many problems with ridiculous crimes, along with xenophobia and racism towards Asian people and being violent towards them because they’re afraid of getting infected and assume that Asian people were the carriers of the virus which isn’t true. Especially towards Chinese people.

Similarly, some people would even be accosted just because they were wearing masks to protect themselves from getting infected. “ To some, wearing masks means admitting a fear they may not have consciously confronted yet, “ said David Abrams, a clinical psychologist and professor of social and behavioural science at New York University’s School of Global Public Health.

Whether positive or negative, such cognitive shortcuts can still result in prejudgments that could lead to rash decisions from biases. In addition, all of this can also cause more cyberbullying and cause more drama towards people trying to speak out more about this and those who have got infected and were cured which could lead to more wounds to mental health.

Why aren’t some people wearing masks?

For example of disinformation, President Donald Trump has repeatedly lied about the coronavirus pandemic. Which could lead to some other people thinking that everything he said was all true and that they should listen to what he says. And there are also mixed messages that while the CDC recommends the public to wear masks, President Donald Trump didn’t wear a mask during a visit to a Honeywell mask factory to also conclude why some people still don’t wear masks. Because whatever the leader does, will always be right, right? Well that isn’t always the case.

Overall, it’s just that some people don’t really think it’s that important to wear masks since they aren’t the ones infected. If you can’t really see the picture of what I’m talking about, imagine that you are a sniper trying to kill a target from a high building. You thought that since you’re the one killing the target, you wouldn’t have to wear a safety vest. But you’ll never be sure if your target has a weapon or a safety vest under their clothing underneath or the target could have had their backup ( their backup is represented as the coronavirus ) to kill you before you kill them so there are possible chances of you getting killed during your mission.

How can we be sure if the informed information is real or fake?

It’s hard to identify what’s real and what’s not on the web. Nowadays we usually search up information on the internet and not like the way people used to do back then such as newspapers or radios. But it’s also because our mind playing tricks on us because we tend to trust information more easily that confirms our beliefs. And we call that cognitive biases.

Some people are starting to think that they no longer have to have evidence to back up their arguments because the people who deceived their arguments, probably wouldn’t look up more about the information and would just believe their false statements anyways. And eventually, some would stop listening to industry reports which give out more accurate and truthful information.

Firstly, always check the source of the information you got from. If you’re not really confident about the information given to you, always do more researches on that topic. Check the date when the article was published, check the spelling and grammar, check the way their webpage was designed and if it looked suspicious and check the web address. If the web address seemed like its spelling was spelled incorrectly, then be careful with the website you’re reading.

Secondly, see if others are also reporting about that topic or have already picked up on the news. But remember, not all websites spread out false information so don’t quickly jump to conclusions. And even though they are professionals, they can also make mistakes so keep looking if you’re still unsure about the information from those websites.

Thirdly, analyze their complete argument. See if their claims seem possible to happen, see if their evidence and reasonings are correct and related to the topic they’re talking about. Many websites would conclude facts, quotes or statistics on their webpage so if there are anything suspicious, keep it in your mind. Also think about if their evidence is proving a particular viewpoint because that could also be suspicious.

If there are images on their website, remember that some images can also be edited to make it look real. And some websites include images that are completely unrelated to their information or topic so look out for that too.

Why are these people making fake news?

There are many reasons why it keeps going on, especially in the year 2020. Remember that their primary goal is to deceive us and try to make the fake news interesting because some truthful news without that much tea are boring to most people.

Those news that seem to attract more people to read their website are usually motivated by strong emotions that are more likely to be shared such as surprised, fear, disgust, hatred, etc.

Some fake news are usually mixed up truths and lies all together to seem real. Some people can share fake news on accident too and that would satisfy their goal, which is for their fake news to go viral and be more popular. For example, Tim Allen quote Trump’s wall costs less than the Obamacare website”

Bullying in Japan spreads to social media

When someone thinks about Japan, they might think of the delicious food, the unique culture and traditions, the advanced technology, or the people themselves. The given examples are mostly on the positive side of things. But Japan is also known for its high suicide rate. But what are the causes for those suicides?

I think that there’s a hidden side of Japan that many might not know. The  bullies and cyberbullies in Japan.

I’m a middle schooler from Thailand, but I’m half Thai half Japanese. While it might seem like I would have more knowledge about the Thai side of social media, that’s not true. I watch the Japanese news on a daily basis, and follow a lot of news, so I get a lot of information from there. On the other hand, I barely watch any Thai news and have no interest in those. I Don’t like having a social media account, and I hope my readers  will understand why by the end of this blog.

Japan’s  social media usage

Japan is known for its advanced technology. So it’s no surprise that, according to contentworks, 94% of the population uses the internet and over half(61%) of the population uses social media. The website has also stated that a Japanese person spends 3 hours and 45 minutes on the internet daily. According to the  website Statista, about 80.8% of the population uses Line, 42.8% uses Twitter, 35.8% uses Instagram, 34% uses Youtube and 31.2% uses Facebook. The website Edamame Japan states that the social media age range stretches a long way from the late 10’s to the late 60’s which is amazing in my opinion.

Since a lot of Japanese people use a lot of  world famous social media such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, many of my friends were surprised when I told them that the only social media I use are Line, Youtube and barely any Instagram. I think the reason was because they had impressions of Japanese people using a lot of social media sites. But I don’t think that Line and Youtube would count as a proper social media site since it works very differently than other social media sites. And I only use Instagram for news about the games, such as Brawl Stars, and other news. I have heard many stories about how random strangers have sent my friends a friend request. They seemed fine with it, But if I were them I would decline and block right away. I personally think that meeting people online is cool and all, but I don’t think I’m brave enough to step up into the online world.

Bullying in Japan

This might sound ironic to some people because Japan seems like a country that has respect for each other. But bullying in Japan is one of the major problems in school. Even the world wide famous anime/cartoon Doraemon has a pair of bullies in its main cast. According to Japan Times, more than 500,000 cases of bullying have been reported in Japan in 2018. About 80% of the schools that have done a survey for the Japan Times said that they have found at least 1 case of bullying in 2018. I was lucky enough to not become a victim when I had a school Orientation in Japan when I was in 5th and 6th grade. Thinking back I think I have seen one, but I wasn’t sure back then.

How does Bullying connect to Social Media?

Since most bullying can’t be done anywhere other than school, using Social Media is more efficient and can be done anywhere as long as the user has internet. As we concluded earlier, a lot of the Japanese population uses social media. There are many things that make Cyberbullying Better. They are:

  • Normal bullying can only be done at school in a specific time while Cyberbullying can Be done anywhere 24/7.
  • From what I have seen, People Tend to get more expressive on the internet/social Media because their real identity isn’t known. So their opinions might be stronger and harsher.
  • It is hard to catch a cyberbully since they can fake all their data.
  • There are a lot of users, so it would be no surprise that there’s many people with the same name(very common In Japan). This adds to the issue of anonymity and can cause a big stir due to misidentification.
  • Cyberbullying is more efficient, easier and possibly makes the culprit feel less guilty because there’s no face-to-face communication. This can also make it hard to catch, too.
  • It can cause a snowball effect if done right. For example, starting up a rumor about someone that is very controversial. they wouldn’t get hate  just from who they know, but from people all over the internet. And as the story/rumor spreads, more people will send hate and spread the rumor. This goes on and on, causing the snowball effect.

How much can cyberbullying affect a person and its country

Just like normal bullying, cyberbullying can Also cause depression, stress, anxiety. This can also cause a loss in self confidence which is very essential as a human being. SCMP.com explains that suicidal thoughts occur more in teenagers than adults. The website has given a reasoning that it is because they are too inexperienced to overcome psychological hardship and so they need help and guidance.

Because of this, The Japanese government has taken action. SCMP.com writes that the Japanese Government has started off with making 24-hour telephone helplines. After that, they have made some changes at railway stations, since they are places where a lot of suicides occur. They added Blue lightings which has a soothing effect. Now, I have seen news about this when they were added and a lot of specialists have confirmed it. They have also added mirrors so they could have some self-reflection. The government is still trying to find ways to decrease the amount of suicidal deaths.

Recently, a Japanese wrestler took her own life, and the causes seem to point to cyberbullying. But this is only just ONE example. Many more have died with the cause of cyberbullying. At first glance, I assumed that the Japanese government was doing what they are supposed to do, But after looking at a lot of sources and opinions, My thoughts have changed. I appreciate the actions that the government has taken, but I think that there should be more action taken. While they have made a law to prevent cyberbullying, people seem to find loopholes and get away with what they have done. If one of my family members got killed or committed suicide after bullying, I would at least wish to see who the culprit was, and see him receive his punishments. So losing a family member and knowing that the culprit got away is the worst feeling.

This is why I don’t like to be on social media. I am a person who doesn’t like to take risks that could cause my life to turn upside down, so i think that it’s reasonable for me to not interact with social media. Unless safety is guaranteed, I don’t think I would ever interact with anything on social media. Just a spectator looking at everything and keeping my opinions to myself.

How social media can disrupt the social aspect of teenagers

What is Social Media

Social media started off as a platform on the internet to keep in touch with your friends or families, where you can share photos, text, and even videos. It essentially enables you to keep in touch with the people you want to keep in touch with, the ability to share content and thoughts in an instant no matter where you are. This really lets us connect with loved ones and make the world a nicer place. But there’s another feature that might harm the way younger generations behave: the feature to meet with random people.

Example of a conversation on discord (there are no faces that is just a meme)

But wait, you might say, won’t just walking outside and saying “hi” have the same effect? Isn’t that a normal thing? Yes, but here’s the thing: first of all, most of the “meeting people on the internet” is often in the form of a username and a profile picture, which is often enough not the person’s face. This then presents a case where a lot of times you won’t know much about the person you’re talking too. And some teenagers prefer to engage online rather than in person. Why is that? And is it a good thing?

What makes social media so appealing to teenagers?

Social media is often represented as something teenagers use, why? I am focusing on using social media to meet new people, new friends, not the keeping in touch part. What makes it so special and appealing to teenagers that some teenagers even get addiction to social media. Why is talking on the internet with people you don’t know, better than talking with people in real life? I was confused, so I wanted to find out for myself.

I used discord for about a month or so, joining random servers, talking with random people, and overall getting the full internet community experience. I quickly learned that it’s addicting to some people because the community is open. People can talk and meet with people who like the things they like; they can get support from the people who share the same thoughts, feelings, or interests. You have the ability to choose who you want to talk to, what kind of person you want to meet. And that is the main reason why teenagers or young adults are so fond of using social media, because they can be who they want to be.

Example of people bring free on the internet

But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, because when someone becomes so fond of an online community, they get attached, and there are teenagers who do get attached

Online relationships

In my experience of using discord, I have seen many many people take online relationships, as legitimate. From online friends to even online girl/boyfriends, they take these relationships as real, and how can you blame them.

Example of online relationships

There is a person behind that account, there is a special personality you can see, it’s not all empty. And teenagers are very fond of platforms like these because they can meet people who they like, without ever being worried about being ridiculed or judged. That is also where the problem resides.

Teenagers are naturally self conscious about the way they look and or act, and sometimes a teenager might not be very happy about themselves, yet they still want to connect with other people, they want to be loved, they want friendships, they want to be part of a community. This then means that teenagers needed to change the way they behave, they needed to change the way they act, they needed to improve to stay in a community, to be accepted. But on the internet, there is little to no ridicule or judgement. You don’t have to worry about self improvement because you don’t need to show people who you really are, you don’t have to show them anything about you other than your personality and your thoughts. There’s no reason to worry about judgement, because all the friends are like you, you can choose who you want to be. This may seem like a good thing, because it is.

How it can affect teenagers

So why do I think this will make teenagers weak? Simply due to the fact that they don’t have to worry about problems surrounding their social aspects, they don’t need to care about being socially awkward or seek for improvement, as they don’t have to worry about it on the internet. But the internet is not real life, it doesn’t matter how close or connected you are over the internet, face to face will always be superior. Therefore if we let teenagers practise these behaviours, letting them get used to the internet and the way it behaves, what will happen to them in the future.

Will they not have to fight for equality or rights, not have to worry about the outside world, won’t need to care about what other people think. All because they have their online friends, their online community. They don’t need to experience the world around them, they can just live in their small world not worrying about anything. And then what happens when they grow up, will they have to resort to the same limited online world?

Furthermore the anonymity of it can hurt them too. There are numerous, widely reported cases where people get bullied on the internet, they get shamed and they feel bad and sometimes might get depression. The internet can house a wide variety of people, and sometimes bad people might lurk around it too. Therefore the internet might not always be a fun and wholesome place.

What’s my point? Is it good or bad? The internet is good. There are many good things that can happen in social media, but letting teens use it to an extent that they start mixing between online and real life, can hurt them. Teenagers are teenagers, they aren’t adults, so we need to limit their use on social media. The internet will never be real life, and teens need to know the difference before it’s to late.

How to travel with budget

Most of the people when traveling they always think how much they have to spend on the food, hotel and places that they want to go. Most people always find cheap and easy places to stay. Sometimes they even need to share a room with other people, I think it is not that bad. It is just like making a new friend in a new place where you have never been. My father always tells me to go and make some new friends and I always say I don’t want to but since I started traveling alone without my parents I start to make new friends. No one can stay alone on vacation right or you can?

Tips to travel with a budget

Every time we travel we have to come up with a plan that’s the first tip. Traveling with a plan you should at least have an idea of how long you’ll be spending in each city or country. The second tip is traveling out of season. The best is avoid traveling on school holidays because the price of the plane and stuff will be higher than normal price. Insteed paying 3,500 or more you can get  2,000 or maybe less. The third tip you should pack properly no matter where you go: make sure you take everything you need so you don’t need to stop while you’re away. The fourth tip is Book flights in advance especially return flights; running out of money abroad without a guaranteed ticket home is never ideal. Airlines ‘release’ their flight seats up to a year in advance and the closer you get to your departure date, the more the prices increase, especially in the last month. The fifth this maybe the most important one is  Don’t eat away your cash Cheap lunches  in a supermarket or even a local fresh food market, rather than in an overpriced cafe or restaurant for example a fried race is you buy feom the local market it cost 25 baht but if you buy from the restaurant it cost 80 baht or more.  Hostels and spare rooms often let you have access to a kitchen if you  want to save a little money by cooking for yourself.

“Experience or Nothing”

When traveling doesn’t always have to be perfect in the plan, just go out have fun and make a new experience for yourself. Is all about the spirit: to get out there and make your dreams happen. Not to let hardships get you down and keep going, no matter what. The perfect vacation is to have fun not the plan or any rules you made up I’m not trying to say plan is not improtant  plan is just the based to go travel without anyone taking care but over all just have fun with everything.

Is Thailand still a democracy?

Why do Thailand have so many coups?? Why did soldiers become prime ministers?? This is a question that most of thailand citizens ask the government if I think now Thailand is a dictator because citizens don’t have the right to make decisions.

Why are Thailand dictators?

Because in this election result is a lot of cheating to get this government to win the election. During the coups prime ministers are getting In a political position 5year without election and No one could fire him, because the whole council belonged to him. Dictators in thailand are Dictator Council

Or dictatorship in democracy. And they destroy their political rival by Dissolving their party With a Constitutional court that belongs to them.

It has a thin line between democracy and dictatorship if it tilts in any direction, it will be difficult to return.

What Do citizens think??

In my opinion I think citizens will think What rule does Thailand rule now dictator or democracy? And why do these governments work so badly or they don”t do anything? And way to fix this problem is change the governments

Stereotype

Most of people would like to stereotype people by gender and nationality.

What is stereotype?

Stereotype is an over generalized belief about a particular category of people. People would think that same nationality or gender or a group of same people would have the same behavior or personality and they thought just only a wrong thing like chinese people will be loud and no behaviour , dress up bad and chinese people eat dogs and cats.

but in blogsenclasse website that create by chinese people names Son Goku said that It’s utterly false even Beijing people must not eat dogs or cats because they are very strict. It’s not just chinese people but there is an african americans too.

Check out more question or asked them !
https://blogsenclasse.fr/19-brive-lycee-arsonval-mbb/stereotypes-about-chinese-people/

Another example !

There are also some common stereotypes of men and women, such as:

Men are strong and do all the work.
Men are the “backbone.”
Women aren’t as smart as a man.
Women can’t do as good of a job as a man.
Girls are not good at sports.
Guys are messy and unclean.
Men who spend too much time on the computer or read are geeks.

oh and another important stereotype that happend!

About 100 years ago people stereotype about african people that they were a slave and they thought that some blacks are not clean (I thought that was non sense) some of them hate people in black to the point that they seperate there music style one style for black people and there was a news “white mobs across the country attacked black people and they fought back” (Refer from wikipedia and edition.cnn.com ) and also have protest in USA between black and white too.

What do new generation think?

I thought that stereotype is about our opinion but we should not stereotype people in the wrong thing if we do not know the truth of them but sometimes I agree that stereotype people some times , it happend and it’s true that some of chinese people are loud or some group of chinese people dress weirdly, any if we do not sure about it we can ask people that we know or search a facts on the internet before we say something.According to alots of celebrity post on instagram , facebook , twitter about black people and said “black lives matter” because there were a news that american police hurts black people with no reason names George floyed this new is famous throughout the world, it is famous around the world and all news device example from Thairath.news and there are also a blog that special for blacks called “blacklivesmatter.com” this is a good example about stereotype because the police did this I thought that they think black people are still a slave.I’m agree with those article and I thought that was a very good Idea and it can change some people’s mindset that still stereotype not just black people but everyone every group every nationality that are misunderstanding by some group of people. But I do not agree that just the words or misunderstandings of some people  can affect people who are greatly misunderstood or just a word that people are saying and stereotype can make people die but by the way, this is just my opinion so be careful of words and  research that matter clearly. However you should think before speaking or commenting and the most important thing that I want to convey in this blog is to speak consciously.

“Stereotypes do exist , but we have to walk throught them”

The Game moderators (GMs)

A game master (GM; also known as game mastergame managergame moderator or referee) is a person who acts as an organizer, officiant for regarding rules, arbitrator, and moderator for a multiplayer role-playing game.

Toxic player

The type of the player that I want to talk about the most is toxic players who have rude behavior toward other players. Some of these help their team but some of these toxic players just let their team die and be rude to them . Even if you play well or poorly in the game, I think it will be better if you help your team and tell them what to do rather than being rude.

I think that the report button does not help anything. The report button is the button that you can report players in your team or another team and it will appear after the game. It looks like this.

AFK players

Next, I want to talk about the AFK player. AFK is mean away from keyboard . There are 2 reasons why they go out of the game. Some don’t mean to; maybe it’s because of the loss of internet or  low battery.  Other players do mean to do it such as when their team is going to lose or if their team said that they are not playing well or playing like a “noob.” They leave the game because they don’t want to play anymore, or “rage quit,” and that player makes their team lose for real.

In the first case if your battery is low under 20% or your internet is not stable the game will warn you but you can continue to play. But I think this function should only be in normal mode and it shouldn’t be in rank mode because in the normal mode we play for fun, not seriously like in rank mode, which is a competition. Moreover, I think GMs should not allow you to play in rank mode if your battery is lower than 20% and your internet is not stable. That way, if there is someone who is AFK, the players on the team and GMs will know that it is not about the battery or the internet and so the GMs cut that player’s points 200%.

Troll players

I watched a YouTube gamer name Guy. One of his clips is about the troll player in his team on rank mode. That player played the character name Veera. Veera showed the win rate to his team. There was 2% out of 100%.The win rate is the number you have won in the character that you choose and it showed how many times you play that character. That troll player played Veera like 8,000times but got less chance to win. Nobody can play that much but got that less win rate. https://youtu.be/U6B-SaJCg1c

when the game starts Veera troll the game but Guy and his team not let him to make them loose. In the middle of the game it looks like Guy’s team is going to win and Veera texts “No don’t win. My win rate will increase”. And finally Guy’s team were win.The question under Guy clip is why didn’t the GM ban this player out of the game?

I think GMs should care more about the player profile. They should check the history or the previous game and if the player did something against the rule I think they should message the player and warn them and if the player do It again they should ban them forever.

Then Guy posted the other clip that Veera is already banned out of the game but just three days and if he trolls the game again he will be banned forever. There are comments said we need to be famous so we can report the player that troll the game? and some comment said GM should ban that troll player for long. And some comments respond that it is not just one or two players who troll games like this it have many players,do you think GM will see your comment? and some comment said this clip made me realize that the report button does not help anything.

I agree with this comment that said it is not just one or two players who troll the game it has many other problems like AFK player and the other toxic player too but I disagree some because Veera plays like 8000 times to get the 2% of the win rate. I mean GM didn’t know anything? play like 8,000times already. Do GMs cares?

I think GMs should show that they care about this problem. I saw that they put the new skin, new character, new mode and new feathers but I didn’t see anything about this. I knew that they noticed this problem but they just let it go and did like there was no problem.

What can GMs do

If I am GMs I will make an activity that the players in the game will be interested in like 30 days following all the game rules and they will get an items or coins but they need to not have any report from other players.
